The Economic Crisis and spain
Posted by admin in News and Events on April 25, 2012
Some Home truths.
The economic crisis in Europe has now been dragging on for four years. Far too
long given that there are no indications that the situation is improving. So what exactly is the problem?
I have read many detailed and exhaustive explications of the root causes of the crisis, but as is so often the case their observations do not start at zero, no, their staring point is often some way’s down the road.
So, what is zero? The very creation and design of the ‘European Single Currency.’ Simple right? In brief the design and conception of the ‘European Single Currency was a fiscal train crash waiting to happen. Allow me to elaborate through an analogy.
Imagine that an Architect was asked to design a hotel of one hundred bedrooms. Now there could only be one bedroom design, and here is the crunch! The hotel would cater for clients ranging from the super rich right down to the economically taxed! Mission impossible, or ridiculous you may well say.
Correct, but now take a look at the system currently in place for the Euro Zone. It is in fact equally ridiculous and impossible. It is in fact this straight jacket that has brought Europe to his knee’s.
Now, credit where it is due. We should remember that this system was designed and conceived in Germany with some help from France.
Ok, let’s fast forward, Spain is currently in the firing line and will remain so until the next stage of this farce unravels, when it might be the turn of Italy, or even Belgium, or Holland. So now its time to focus on Spain, is Spain bankrupt?
Of course it’s not, but it for sure has a cash flow problem and here we encounter crunch number two. Can Spain pay it’s debts? Of course it can, but not tomorrow!
There can be no doubting that Spain maxed out on its fiscal credit cards during the boom and so did many other countries within Europe, but that was in part due to the design fault mentioned above.
While Club Med desperately need the ECB to raise interest rates to dampen the boom the ECB actually lowered them further! To add to the fun they then raised them as southern Europe was entering a downward spiral, why? As described above the design of this “Euro Hotel”, was in fact incapable of catering to its mixed bag of clientele!
So, what to do? All of the Club Med countries built up huge debt’s during their unwanted boom. Can they pay it back, again of course, but now allow me to use another analogy.
You live in a three hundred thousand Euro house, you drive a twenty thousand Euro car, but and this is the crucial point, you find yourself cash less. Now your best friend aware of your situation offers to loan you five hundred Euros until things improve for you. So far, so good, right? Now imagine that the day after receiving the five hundred Euro loan your friend phones you. He needs his money back by tomorrow!
Now maybe you settled some debts, stocked up on food, filled your car with gas, you do not have the money! You cannot pay it back tomorrow you are effectively bankrupt, despite your asset worth!
I hope you are still with me. Now Germany has dictated a formula for indebted countries to repay their debts in the shortest time possible, its called austerity and it is a disaster. It is driving the asset rich, cash poor countries of the Mediterranean to bankruptcy, or as the respected “New York Times” reporter “Paul Krugman” pointed out. “Europe seems hellbent on committing economic suicide.”
To sum up the timescale for fiscal realignment in Europe must, I repeat must be relaxed. Killing the patient to fix the toothache is really not such a good idea. Will it happen?
It seems so, remember the country dictating the cure is the same country that created the sick beast in the first place and it is becoming increasingly isolated. France and now Holland have also recently rejected this absurd medicine!
So, in the improbable event that Señor Don President Rajoy is reading this, slow down. What is a few more year to a country of Spain’s rich history. Make the sovereign decision to change from the diet of austerity to a diet of economic stimulus. History will thank you. Terrence Aubrey is a writer living in Malaga. The history of the Eurozone Crisis.

You didn’t want to know? Sorry for bothering you, maybe you might like my
latest book, ‘The day the lights went out’ at amazon.com, but I’m sure some of you must be interested.
To start at the beginning, Europe as it exists today in its incomplete form is an untidy cluster of small countries squashed together upon quite a small land mass.
Now geographically speaking Europe is quite big, but this is something best not mentioned in polite circles. Belarus, The Ukraine and western Russia are all within Europe. As I say this is not something mentioned in polite circles.
So, the rump of Europe, it is dominating a lot of column inches within newspapers right now. Very irritating I know and even unreasonable for such a small place. I’m sure you would rather read about Brad Pitt’s forthcoming marriage, or is it separation to, or from Angelina Jodi.
To understand the Euro crisis it is necessary to first understand a little bit about the countries within it. Now as I mentioned these countries are really rather small. ‘I know, there is a school of thought that protest’s that size doesn’t matter, really? During Europe’s ‘Hey day’ huge lorries had not been invented, a popular pursuit for the physically taxed, so what could they do?
Conquer the World! I’m not quite sure which European came up with that bright idea, but it worked a treat. Kept them busy for ages, they set sail to the east, the west, wherever was best. It was a bright idea, but it had a limited life span. The conquered peoples began to realise that actually these European upstarts were really quite small and eventually kicked them out.
So then what? Well for a while these little Europeans tried to put a brave face upon things and busy themselves in their back gardens. Well that worked for a while, but only a while.
Germany was not happy, due to a evolutionary quirk, or perhaps a mass lobotomy the peoples from this little corner of little Europe shared an obsession order and predictability and what ever Europe had become it was far from being so.
They set to sorting it out, it was called World war one. Unfortunately for Germany their ideas were not very popular, so their fellow Europeans kicked their ass. For a while things were okay, the Greeks went back to drinking Ouzo, hey they’d done there bit, invented democracy, they’d earned a break. Italy went into the fashion business, whist Spain suffered their own little man without a big lorry Franco. Meanwhile Germany seethed, such disorder!
They eventually choose to lead them a megalomaniac whose barber had persuaded him to wear a ridiculous moustache. Again they tried to enforce a form of order across Europe. Again it did not work out, how could it with a moustache like that and again the their ass was kicked.
What then followed was a serious downsizing of Europe’s importance with upstart countries like the USA and the USSR taking a dominant lead.
Germany was not to be outdone, they would establish order in Europe ‘mien gott’! They invented the ‘European Union’, just for business purposes, of course. That would create order within Europe!
Frustratingly it did not work aswell as they had hoped, the Greeks were in retirement mode. We gave you democracy, the Olympic games and numerous god’s and philosophers, give us a break. The Spanish, Portuguese and Italians were equally uncooperative.
Germany, seethed and wrenched their hands at the disorder they saw all around them and the smart ones put their heads together. They finally came up with an idea that would finally put a stop this this disorderly merriment. They invented a single European currency, now they had them, this time they would become orderly, or better still Germanic!
For Germany, sadly not, the adventure was again to prove to be unattainable, unworkable and ultimately unacceptable. Welcome to a brief history of the ‘Euro Crisis.’ Terrence Aubrey
What is the definition of luxury?
Posted by admin in Inspiration, News and Events on April 7, 2012
What is luxury to you? A rare stone, dug up at huge human cost that you can
hang around your neck? A job, a roof over your head and a meal tomorrow? A billion dollar yacht? A chance, a hope to survive?
Is there any difference in any of the above definitions of luxury? If you think there is you are lost, hopelessly and terribly lost. For the majority of people on planet earth luxury is a definition of something beyond their grasp and it is a sad indictment. No, it is a disgusting indictment that the definition of luxury should be so vast!
To the unfortunate I say look at the fools that you believe to be above you. They are no further along the road of life than you. You have hunger, you need, you crave food. But look at the people that you look up to, the people that you aspire to emanate. They are just as hungry as you! Only they are hungry for the preposterous, the absurd and in fact, the ridiculous, do not envy them.
Their stomach’s might be full, probably over full, but their hearts, their souls are more barren than a dessert.
Why is it that after two thousand, plus years we have learnt nothing, nothing at all. Happiness is, we think still, a warm gun.
Probably most of the people likely to read this article will live in democracy’s. Tell me about your democracy, define to me your democracy. We have a choice, we can choose our leadership, I here you say. Choose between what and what exactly?
A bunch of self serving, hypocritical, two tongued low life’s and that is democracy? That is what we have as a species devoted untold millennium to achieve? Is that it? Is that really the sum total of our evolutionary achievement?
Jeez, it’s not much to be proud of is it? Or am I a little alone here? Ok, luxury, now I have already offered my opinion as to the definition of luxury and the fact that it is a highly personal objective, but…….
Is there not something terribly wrong if we accept without a thought the disparity within the accepted definitions of this adjective?
Evolution is, as far as I can see a slow and tortuous process. That it should be so is perhaps part of a game that is way beyond our comprehension, but I am sure, increasingly sure, that there exists an imbalance. An imbalance that is not only unjust, but grotesque.
Will it change, will enough people rise up and protest? I think not, at least anytime soon, evolution does not seem to have been designed so. Oh well, I will resign myself to the luxury of a warm and cosy bed, with a warm and cosy companion. Terrence Aubrey.
How to write a book
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on March 26, 2012
Do you like the title? I don’t, but it will catch some traffic. A little sad, I know,
but welcome to the wonderful World of quick fixes. Really I should have titled this article, ‘Do you want to write a book, or do you need to write a book.
I didn’t, but then I did. For a long time I have been writing about the folly, the foolishness that I see. Is that judgemental, arrogant, or presumptuous on my part? Quite possibly and quite possibly a little of each of the above, but what if my views are relevant and have some value?
Anyhow, after receiving numerous suggestions that I should condense my observations within a book, (danger, swollen head ahead) I gave it a shot.
It was far from an overnight decision, not even an over month decision. I had been writing five hundred word long articles for ages, but presumed that a one hundred thousand word book was way beyond my capacity.
Now my particular viewpoint has been for quite some time one of frustration, anyone that has read my articles will have picked that up. Judgemental, over critical, preaching or even Big headed? You bet and by the bucket load, but bear with me. If you saw a car driving at eighty miles an hour towards a cliff what would you do?
Anyway, back to my ‘Goggle catching headline’, which actually will probably not work. I digressed in the opening paragraph, but what the heck.
Last summer an idea popped into my head, an idea that summed up, crystallised just about everything I have been writing about for the past five years. I began to lay it down and surprised myself to find that I had written twenty pages and had not even started!
I was shocked, astonished and pleased in equal measure. My self imposed limitations swept away. Now any writers out there will know that writing can be as a drug. Some people need to become rich and successful, some need to express themselves through music and some through song. Many have given up entirely feeling they are useless and try to lose themselves in drugs, or alcohol. Don’t, you are not a mistake for every Brad Pitt, or Bill Gates there are a million of you. Wake up to your potential! It’s free! Oh, yes and writers need to write, phew, got there in the end!
You see, I again digress, how to write a book is the title, so how do you write a book? In my case my story evolved from a small seed, a tiny seed and was based upon my observations. Now in fact I suspect most books begin from the smallest of conceptions. Just as we did, as small and helpless baby’s.
My particular seed has evolved into a trilogy! So how easy is it? First comes the rush of excitement of laying down on paper the idea, the concept, the story. In my case book one took me two weeks, but that includes a bunch of errors. Such was my enthusiasm that I went straight onto book two, such was the epic scale of the tale I wanted to share (yes, maybe swollen head time again), but then, as book two was nearing completion I began to have doubts.
Now, if you write a book it is because you want to share and express something, right? Bob Dylan didn’t lock him self in his bathroom when he wrote that stuff a hundred years ago. Or if he did, maybe his mother called the fire brigade to break down the door.
No, you wonder, as an untested author, if your work will stand up, have good spelling, punctuation and grammar. So the next stage is you send copies of at least part of your work to friends, associates, maybe even the postman for feedback.
Now at this stage you will need strength of purpose. I received advice and suggestions that would have directed my creation to a Mills and Boon novel, a mindless adventure story, or a pale imitation of Anaïs Nin.
Being of a swollen head I ignored them all, but the grammar, the typos the spelling errors! Hard work, hard work indeed, but you’ve done it; you have a readable copy of your masterpiece. Now you want to present it to the World, right? Well unless you are a Bob Dylan in a bathroom with neither a mother, nor a door you do. So what to do?
Now if you are into self flagellation you can send it to literary agents, but if you are going to do that a word of advice, change your name. Try variations of Stephen King (Steven might work. Kin?) whatever. If you are not so inclined try self publishing with Amazon, Apple, or whoever. Just make sure it’s readable. Awerk off arte presented soe will not be attractive. Why do we make such hard work of finding a partner? We of all the animal
kingdom seem to have managed to turn one of natures strongest, natural and most basic acts into an emotional mine field. Why should that be?
I suspect that one thousand years ago it was not so and that this most natural of evolutionary activity was far simpler. Could it be we now have to much choice? Our ability to travel the globe coupled with the Internet has presented us with almost mind boggling choice.
In many ways the popularity of online dating is a two edge sword, we can now draw up a shopping list of what we seek in a partner. Whilst this is perhaps an extension of reality it is not exactly very romantic, is it?
My own dating site is full of beautiful women, many from Russia and the Ukraine and they are searching for their prince, their Knight in shining armour. Conversely the men are looking for the drop dead gorgeous girl of their dreams. Very high expectation from both sides!
Only one hundred years ago the dating game was so much simpler and the chances are that relationships were formed on a basis of proximity, yes even the girl, or boy next door.
Compatibility, once we are over the hurdle of mutual physical attraction compatibility must be way near the top of the list for a relationship to work well. Luckily it is something that becomes apparent relatively rapidly and its crucial. Without it irrespective of physical desire, or sexual attraction it will be very hard, without one or the other partner subordinating to the other.
Another hitch is the sometimes held belief that we are all destined to meet our one and special true love. The one and only that awaits us somewhere, somehow. Now with a global population of some eight billion people that now enjoy the technology to communicate Worldwide this seems improbable.
Perhaps our main failure is that we think to much! Perhaps we have lost the art of simply being and allowing what will be, to be. Try it, online dating is a little like the fisherman that casts his rod into the water, why, because he likes to fish, his enjoyment is the act of fishing. Sometimes he will catch his fish and sometimes he will not, but either way he will return home from an enjoyable experience.
If we stop trying so hard and try to enjoy the moments that make up our lives then perhaps we will be more open to the possibility of love coming our way. Terrence Aubrey
To become as an Orchestra
Posted by admin in Inspiration on February 21, 2012
The World is a noisy place, more so than ever right now, so many differing
opinions each one whether right or wrong important. Everyone seems clear of what they don’t want, but are they so clear on what they do want? The World right now is full, full to capacity of indignation, discontent and anger, but……
Are we so sure of what it is we want, sure, we want more equality, greater fairness and particularly in our own individual corner of the universe, but is that really it?
What are the great divisions between the people’s of “Planet Earth” right now? Are they political? Religious? Territorial? Nope, no and no the divisions are within each and every one of us and together? Well we are completely in a mess, right?
So much is happening both all across planet earth and to planet earth right now and all of this activity stems from the same core source, us. We have become individually and collectively discordant, out of harmony, both with each other and with ourselves and we are collectively making a terrible noise.
The beauty of an orchestra is the collective harmony created by so many individual players. It does not matter how gifted, talented and capable is each individual player they must simply play their own part, no more and no less and in doing so can create magic.
The orchestra is lucky, they have a conductor, our conductor is more tricky, though just as real and important. That inner voice that tells you when you have been a complete shit, makes you feel good when you have acted selflessly, that’s the one.
What is very clear right now and just about right across the Planet is that we are increasingly clear and increasingly indignant about what we don’t want. We don’t want dictators, we don’t want greedy bankers, we don’t want unfairness,or selfishness, but do you know what? All of those negative human traits exist within each of us! It’s true isn’t it.
Ok, maybe the scale is different, but we can all sometimes be dictatorial, greedy and selfish. The only difference is that not many of us have climbed the pole of ambition to become rulers of countries, big bad bankers, or multi millionaires. If you can imagine your ego running wild, or on a bad hair day, it could have been you up there being pelted by bad press or machine guns.
The World is seething in torment and discontent right now. From East to West and North to South and for what and why? Something better than exists right now, can it be achieved?
If we content ourselves with very small evolutionary steps forward then yes, but whether we have time for very small evolutionary steps right now is very debatable.
Those negative aspects that we are collectively rebelling against right now have driven all of us, each in its own small and disharmonious way to upset the balance. So now we have to add to the equation of our indignation the very way we are each individually living, here…….oh shucks.
Can we, will we share, turn the other cheek, agree to differ and respect cultural and religious differences, even if our very lives depend upon it? Can we learn to satisfy ourselves by taking only that which we need, rather than what we want. Can we respect each other for what we are, rather than what we have?
Will we, can we, shall we content ourselves with whatever small, or major part we play in the great scheme of things? If we can then maybe we could begin to begin to create the harmony of the orchestra and if and when we do then we will truly see the full majesty of nature and being alive. Terrence Aubrey.
How to fix the Economic Crisis
Posted by admin in News and Events on January 28, 2012
Bold title, now tell us. Let’s flash back to two thousand and six. how were
you doing then and how did you feel about life, the World and everything? Many would say, “pretty good”, things are looking good the future looks bright. How are things looking today in two thousand and twelve? A little uncertain, wobbly, worrying might well be the general reply.
What’s changed, now before you say “The Economy stupid”, let’s just try to step back a little and try to be a little objective. The World is still turning, right, the Sun rises and sets just as it always has, agreed? The seasons change, each with its own beauty, people fall in and out of love, babies are born and people die. So the fundamentals of being alive right now have not really changed at all, so what has?
Our perception, that is what has changed, we have in effect suffered mass depression. What once seemed attainable, now seems out of reach, the dreams we once had for a bright and fulfilling future now seem unrealistic. We are suffering from a deluge of mass doom and gloom and why?
Because we blinked. If you can imagine the dare devil high wire walker suddenly losing his confidence halfway across the Grand Canyon the chances are he will fall. Collectively, almost as lemmings we have lost our nerve, our confidence and we have put ourselves in danger.
The truth is nothing has changed other than our collective perception of our own capabilities almost as if we have collectively hit a wall of negativity.
Ok, we could look at the fundamentals of the economic crisis, we could analyse the component parts of the fundamentals of national and personal debt. Our individual and realistic capabilities and the realistic capabilities of what ever country we happen to live in and what are they? They are as limited, or unlimited as we perceive them to be.
Ok credit, buy now pay later is widely thought to be the at the heart of the problems facing the World right now, so is credit, borrowing a bad thing and if so why?
If you are fortunate to have a living grand parent ask them their views on credit. The chances are it was not an option during their lives and as they raised families so how did they survive? Fine, just fine, you are their living testimony to that fact. During their day a popular phrase was “Never a borrower or a lender be”. Clearly a phrase ignored by those that chose banking as a profession, but times change.
For the past forty or more years credit has been the oil that has formed the development of much of the World and has certainly allowed us to collectively develop much faster than would otherwise been possible. Many people would agree, whilst others have reservations about the wisdom of our need for speed and I count myself amongst them.
So right here and now in the depth of this huge crisis what is happening? Nobody has the confidence to lend anything to anyone! Banks will not even trust to lodge their overnight funds with each other, a previously common practise and this fear is actually at the heart of the economic crisis, a complete and almost total breakdown of confidence and it is this breakdown of confidence that lies at the heart of the economic crisis.
How can we break out of this self perpetuating fear that feeds upon itself and break out of it we must. We are collectively as that high wire walker halfway across the Grand Canyon. He can do it, he has done it before and has the skill and capability to do it, but his self doubt could hurl him to his death on the canyon floor far below him.
Clearly we have to collectively break out of our self doubt, stop dwelling upon our mistakes and move, the alternative is to fall.
Now their are a mountain of economists out there each with their own highly developed individual field of speciality and there are numerous ideological variations in terms of how they view the problems and how they see the solutions, but someone somewhere needs to see the big picture, not simply an isolated snippet of it.
The problem that we collectively share right now is that the positivity of yes we can has been drowned in an almost lemming like cry of no we can’t and if we want to reach the safety of the other side of that canyon we must either shout them down, or ignore them.
The truth is that the only change that has happened during the past six years is our perception and confidence that we can make it to the other side. As has always been the case it comes down to us individually to make that choice, but I have a mountain of debt’s, my mortgage is huge……..Silly rabbit, deal with it, you have been a silly boy so now work your butt off and chip away at that mountain. It is going to take you a while, but as you and your neighbours chip away at your individual mountains your self esteem and confidence in your own potential will grow. Eventually the “Big Economic Crisis” will be yet another blip in the history of a Human race that desperately needs to stop dwelling upon what it wants and can begin to truly appreciate what it has. Terrence Aubrey.
Time to revisit our definition of Sanity?
Posted by admin in News and Events on December 12, 2011
The guy shuffling down the street with a “The end of the World is nigh
hoarding hanging across is shoulders is crazy, right? The followers of Jesus Christ awaiting his return (with donkey?) are a little detached, maybe? The youngsters that would rather get high than get real are a wasted space?
Maybe it’s time we revisited our concept of normality, or the sane way to live and be. How is your imagination? Fair to middling will do nicely, now let’s imagine that this very big universe is actually a tree, OK, a very big tree for the nit pickers amongst you, but a tree, none the less.
Now we, the human race occupy one branch of that tree, yes sorry, but only the one. Struggling to imagine that? OK, it’s a really big tree and a really big branch! Feel better now?
Now let’s call civilisation two thousand years old, I know, I know, but for the purpose of this article two thousand years will do nicely. If you really have a problem with my reckless disregard to our evolutionary history here is a blank space_____. You can fill it with whatever number will make you feel better, but this article is not about numbers, it is about our definition of sanity!
So here we all are, sitting on this branch and what have we been doing for the past two thousand years? Slowly, but surely cutting through it and worse, cutting through between us and the main trunk of the tree. Is that not a difficult to believe state of affairs!
Actually the reality is even more scary, do you know who is doing the cutting? No not the village idiot, not the intellectually taxed and not even the “little people trying to make their way through life”. No incredible as it may sound it is the people we regard as sane, no, super sane. The leaders of men, commerce, business have been cutting through this branch as if there is no tomorrow and if they continue unimpeded there may not be.
So these people fit our definition of sanity? Are you completely crazy? We are seriously f***ed up! Would you willingly enter the taxi of a taxi driver that is blind? Of course not and yet we willingly submit ourselves to accept the leadership of people whose motives are worse than suspect, they are blinded by their own ambition.
So that crazy guy shuffling down the street with the “end of the World is nigh” hoarding, yes he might well be crazy, but he is in fact harmless. The people that have climbed to the top of whatever greased pole they have chosen to ascend are another story. Be they World leaders, or leaders of commerce, banking and business, their take on sanity affects us all and they are not leading us anywhere that we should be going. You think I exaggerate?
Which ever way you look right now it seems clear that the very people that we relied upon to define our definition of sanity are out to lunch. Pick a subject, any subject, go on, it’s a lucky dip. Those still stuck in the political back catalogue of East versus West can and do still exchange slingbacks. “My system is better than yours. The religions? Not much better I’m afraid, “My religion is better than your religion.
Business, commerce and banking? They have arguably been the most enthusiastic in cutting through the branch of our very survival, how do they rate on the sanity scale? Hopeless, completely hopeless, they seem to have become blinded by the power of their wealth and fail to realise that when the branch is weakened beyond endurance it will be irrelevant. They will fall just as hard as that man shuffling the streets with “The end of the World is nigh”, hoarding will fall.
Perhaps now is the perfect moment in time to revisit our definition of sanity and for the sake of our very survival the sooner the better. Terrence Aubrey.
Evolution? That would be nice
Posted by admin in News and Events on December 6, 2011
Do you believe in evolution? Do you believe we are collectively becoming
brighter, smarter, more intelligent? I do, but clearly something is not working out so well, something seems to have hijacked the process. Something has in fact gone terribly wrong, what?
First let’s go back to basics. Do you feel, or believe that as a race, as a species we have evolved and developed in a well rounded and balanced way? You do? Thanks for taking the time in reading my blog and I hope you have taken something of value, but I suggest you now leave. What I am about to suggest will not be for you.
How many senses have we been blessed with? Some would say five, some would say six, but which ever you choose I’m sure you will agree that we have been lavishly equipped.
How many senses of meaningful direction as a species have we inherited? This time we are noticeably lacking in enrichment and this limitation seems to be playing havoc with our evolutionary process.
Wherever we turn now we see “me ism” and strong individual desire to get on, do well and individually carve out our little pot of gold, or glory. Is this such a bad thing? It need not be unless it is all exclusive and sadly it has become so, at least within recent times.
We need to press the pause button, but we can’t, but we can’t! We must, in the name of sanity do so and take a look out of our windows, take a look around. What exactly is the rush and to what destination are we rushing towards with such health damaging desperation?
Self extinction! Perhaps you feel that I am being over dramatic, that I am exaggerating? I will continue and if you believe that I am missing some crucial information that leads me into making such a bold statement, please tell me.
Remember climate change? Come on, it wasn’t that many years ago that this issue was the headline grabber of dramatic proportions, remember? Well it kind of fell off the shelf, became downgraded and of less importance, why? The Worlds economies fell apart and suddenly our destruction of planet earth became a downgraded issue.
So, climate change is no longer a big issue? Nothing changed except our perception and the Worlds political leaders. Well number one, stop calling them leaders, they are in fact followers, followers of public opinions and public concerns, they want your vote, sad, or what?
Let’s return to the headline, evolution, what happened? It would seem that as we evolved into an ever more one dimensional mindset evolution in many ways followed us, not completely (thank God) but to a large extent. I must do well, must obtain a good qualification, a good job, a good income and for what?
Sadly and in many cases to repeat the mistakes of our fathers and our fathers fathers. Perhaps I am being presumptuous? How many of you that are reading this actually believe that we are heading off of the cliff of our very collective survival? That the evolutionary path that we have followed is unsustainable, insane and unless we make dramatic and drastic changes, ultimately self destructive?
Evolution? The futures market for armaggedon is flying, the possible returns are out of this World. Evolution? It’s on holiday. Terrence Aubrey.
Time to admit we are completely lost?
Posted by admin in News and Events on December 4, 2011
Is the acknowledgement of ignorance the key to opening the door to
wisdom? Well this might just be the perfect moment for us to collectively admit that we are maybe not as clever as we assumed.
How did we arrive at this point, what went wrong? In short, everything, we entrusted our well being to small minded people. Let me expound upon that sweeping statement. The people at the top, the decision makers, our leaders are in large highly educated, but…..
Do these people get it? Do they see the whole picture, or are they so engrossed in their particular field of expertise that the big picture, or our reality does not fit within their view frame?
Let me ellaborate further, we all share the same World, right? An obvious given, consequently whenever any of us harm our World it effects everyone, very simple, yes?
Equally, we now live within a global economy. Why, how that came about is another story, was it planned and if so by whom and if if was not, are we sure that it is a good idea? Well, irrespective of the answer to that question the reality is that if one or more countries have a defective calculator, or our simply mathematically inadequate, we are all effected.
Is all of this such a good idea? Let’s troll back through the ages to a simpler time. If you needed some potatoes, eggs, or whatever you would visit your local farmer to but them. Simple right? And that farmer knew that you would only continue to buy from him if he supplied you with the right quality at the right price. Very simple and very effective.
Do you know how many middle men now stand between you and your desire to replenish your stock of potatoes and eggs and the man actually producing the product?
Added to this a really smart (with a small S) bunch of people, highly educated (in a one dimensional way) realised that they could make some serious money through speculating on those eggs and potatoes…….do I need to continue?
Is that really the best we can do after so much care and effort has been expended to our evolution? How to cream off a nice percentage from the eggs and potatoes and with a real contribution of zero.
For some, this rational will seem both naive and unrealistic. I say no, our acceptance of this complete nonsense is what is naive and unrealistic. Right now the World is facing serious economic problems. What has changed? Is that farmer now neglecting his farm and producing bad eggs and potatoes? Nope, the chances are his eggs and potatoes are as good as they ever were, so what is the problem?
The only problem lies within a system that allowed the intermediaries to become so important, actually more important than the farmer that was producing the stuff, no really and they tripped over their own ego’s.
A simplistic explanation? Absolutely, as is the explanation of what is happening with the World economy right now. That farmer set a value on his Eggs and potatoes. A value that represented his effort, his costs and perhaps a little on top and that was the price you had to pay. Now if you were going through a difficult moment he might give you credit, or ask that you do this, or that for him as a form of payment if he valued your custom and had faith in you as a good person.
So we evolved, we choose to allow the clever people to stand between us and that farmer and maybe twenty deep. Do they know you? Did they give a damn about you as a person, or your righteousness? Nope they used a calculator, your sum value as a human being became your net worth and your earning potential.
So, that’s how we seemingly unnoticeably evolved, we somewhere along the way exchanged being a good, decent and hard working person into a credit rating! That credit rating right now is the measurement of our worthiness and righteousness, How does that grab you? It’s a complete nonsense and even worse, we have allowed economic perverts to measure the value of the individual. Why is that such a terrible backward step? Simply because these are really not the people that should be at the forefront of our collective development. Actually, in my opinion they should be well down the pecking order, maybe bringing up the rear?
So how has this stealthy change worked out? If you keep yourself updated with news you will know that it has not worked out at all well. Everyone owes everyone else money and that in turn has lead to a crisis of confidence. Given that the whole smart funny money game was built upon misguided confidence this has turned into a global economic crisis, or meltdown. Where should the finger of blame be pointed? Towards ourselves. We allowed ourselves to become hypnotised by this shallow sub culture. The ad men, the money men and the perpertrators of the mirage. Now is the moment to shake off the dust of this nonsense and make our voices heard. It’s time to follow your heart and your inner voice of reason. It’s time to change the TV chanel and the sooner the better.
The clever money people? They are alright, they saw it coming, knew they were peddling illusion and invested in the eggs and potato farmer. Terrence Aubrey.
